“I've shared a few times on how amazing our lives have been since we've given our lives to God. Two years ago we were addicted to heroin, getting evicted out of our homes, and on the verge of divorce. We've been completely clean for 18 months now, both have great jobs, our marriage is amazing, we were baptized and accepted God in our life, found Life Change church and since then our lives have taken off in the most amazing way.

I never thought we would be where we are today.” - LK

Opening Scripture

3 For a time is coming when people will no longer listen to sound and wholesome teaching. They will follow their own desires and will look for teachers who will tell them whatever their itching ears want to hear. 4 They will reject the truth and chase after myths. 5 But you should keep a clear mind in every situation. Don't be afraid of suffering for the Lord. Work at telling others the Good News, and fully carry out the ministry God has given you.

2 Timothy 4:3-5 NLT

1.   We are made to contribute—not just consume.

10 Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others. It is not about you.

1 Peter 4:10 NIV

2.   God’s purpose for your life is to serve Him by serving others or ministries.

3.   Every Christian is a minister—not just pastors.

28 Your attitude must be like my own, for I, did not come to be served, but to serve.

Matthew 20:28 TLB

4.   Your attitude shows your maturity.

28 Never tell your neighbor to wait until tomorrow if you can help him now.

Proverbs 3:28 TEV

4 Forget yourselves long enough to lend a helping hand.

Philippians 2:4 MSG

4 If you wait for perfect conditions, you’ll never get anything done.

Ecclesiastes 11:4 NLT

13 "No servant can serve two masters. You cannot serve both God and money."

Luke 16:13 NIV

4 Who are you to criticize someone else’s servant? The Lord will determine whether His servant has been successful.

Romans 14:4 GW

12 For we dare not make ourselves of the number, or compare ourselves with some that commend themselves: but they measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise.

2 Corinthians 10:12 KJV

1 When you do good deeds, don’t try to show off. If you do, you won’t get a reward from your Father in heaven.

Matthew 6:1 CEV

5.   You know your serving is done right when you have an attitude of gratitude.

21 Once you were alienated from God and were enemies in your minds because of your evil behavior. 22 But now he has reconciled you by Christ’s physical body through death to present you holy in his sight, without blemish and free from accusation— 23 if you continue in your faith, established and firm, and do not move from the hope held out in the gospel. This is the gospel that you heard and that has been proclaimed to every creature under heaven, and of which I, Paul, have become a servant.

Colossians 1:21-23 NIV

10 For, “Whoever would love life and see good days must keep their tongue from evil and their lips from deceitful speech. 11 They must turn from evil and do good; they must seek peace and pursue it. 12 For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous and his ears are attentive to their prayer, but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.” 13 Who is going to harm you if you are eager to do good? 14 But even if you should suffer for what is right, you are blessed. “Do not fear their threats; do not be frightened.” 15 But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect, 16 keeping a clear conscience, so that those who speak maliciously against your good behavior in Christ may be ashamed of their slander. 17 For it is better, if it is God’s will, to suffer for doing good than for doing evil.

1 Peter 3:10-17 NIV
